My name is Cyndie and I was born an raised in South Florida. As a child I was active BUT as I grew older I became very lazy and overweight.
I would rather be home doing nothing then anything else. Even though I did have friends that I went out with, it was difficult to get myself going.
When I was in 11th grade I needed a certian credit in FITNESS LIFESTYLES but I did not want to take it in school and to my luck it was offered
online. So I enrolled in that BUT it still required me to do a few exercises but in the comfort of my own home. Later in the course I was REQUIRED to take a team activity with given examples of ballet and karate. Reluctantly I chose to do Karate and it took me almost a month to actually check an academy out.
I went to check out a KARATE ACADEMY BUT I could not find it. I ended up at another academy and The name of the academy is called Team Martial Arts Centers in Pembroke Pines Florida. and HOW DID I GET SO LUCKY! I ended up in the right place! It is owned an operated by my
MASTER Chief instructor Sensei Jarett Perelmutter who is also a long time student of Master Fariborz. However this academy was not run by him BUT another Chief Instructor.
I was very nervous when I first walked in this academy but being immediatly greeted by the assistant instructor helped me. At that time I walked in as an overweight, low self esteem/confidence and extremely shy 16 year old. So at that time, I really did not want to do it BUT I had to for
school. I got my brother involved as well, which really helped me to come and train. In the end, Im the one that stuck it out and became completely addicted to martial arts.I soon became the most physically fit that I have been and lost about 60 pounds. My self esteem and confidence is also
much higher. Soon enough, I became interested in training to become an instructor. The Cheif instructor I had at the time approved and I started training. I was at the academy everyday, the academy became my home and everyone in it became my family. I went through a lot of major problems
in my teen years and having a place like this and an instructor who was like my big brother really helped me. Thats why I chose this as my career choice, so that I could help others the same way.
In 2005 I officially became an assistant instructor of the Pembroke Pines Location and I was soon helping students who were just like me when I started.
The transformation that I have gotten to see in all the students is amazing and im so happy. In 2006 I officially also became the Program Director of the location, BUT that is just a title because in the end I still did the same things I was doing. Also in 2006 I received my Black Belt and in 2007 I received my 1st degree black belt. I am very glad that I was able to go thru the whole process of getting my black belt in a normal pace and not be moved faster just because of my title. I feel that I have truly earned my BLACK BELT WITH EXCELLENCE!!
Today, I am currently at the AVENTURA FLORIDA location. Still training and addicted more then ever! and I am honored to have been given the opportunity to receive my black belt under MASTER FARIBORZ! THANK YOU!
I have learned so much over the years that I have been training AND Everyday I learn more and more about life!
I THANK EVERYONE that I have ever come in contact with in the Martial Arts for making me who I am today! :)

My Black Belt Experience:
I remember when I started Martial Arts like it was yesterday. I really did not want to do it BUT I needed it as a requirement to get a credit in school. So I looked for some kind of karate academy nearby. I did not find the specific one I was looking for But I ended up in the right place! I remember walking in, immediately greeted by one of the instructors. He showed me around the academy and introduced me to the chief instructor, who was also very nice. I felt welcomed and comfortable by this. I started on a short 6 week program since thats all I needed for school. But after about 4 classes I completely fell in love with martial arts and it has become a positive lifestyle change!
I would never have thought on day 1 how much Martial Arts would change me. I used to be the type of child that would go to school, go home, eat and watch Tv. I was very lazy and it was the most unhealthiest time of my life. I was overweight and from there my self-esteem and confidence was at an all time low. I felt so uncomfortable in my own skin that it restricted me from doing much in my life. I was very unhappy, very sensitive and would cry at the smallest thing. In elementary school I would also sometimes be made fun of because of my weight.
Unfortunately I did not start Martial Arts til I was 16 years old. But HOW DID I GET SO LUCKY!
I lost a total of about 60 pounds from doing martial arts (it was the most physical activity I have ever done and I love it!). I have become the most physically fit that I have EVER been. There was also a MAJOR self esteem and confidence boost. I had started to realize what life really is, to enjoy it to the fullest and to also to take care of my body. I started to spend everyday in the academy, that it became my second home and everyone in it became my family. I also believe that it was because of martial arts that I had the ability to deal with a major issue and change that happened in my family. I truly believe that I would not had the ability to deal with this if not for Martial Arts.
Martial Arts is the best thing that has happened to me and changed me so much that I had decided to make it my career. I have been given the opportunity to change lives the way it has changed me. I love seeing the positive changes in all my students. This has become a way of life.
To this day, I am still learning and changing. Especially in discipline and focus. I am looking forward to continuing my growth!
A Black Belt is JUST a piece of cloth you wrap around the waste. It is the positive changes that you have achieved through the journey, to make it to BLACK BELT EXCELLENCE!!!
