My 1st Degree Black Belt:
Hi. My name is Madison Rey Kaminsky, I am 11 years old, and I have had a very tough, hard working black belt experience. In my months of training, I realized how hard everyone was working, including myself, towards our exam. I thought the qualification was hard, but compared to the second and third pre-tests, I think I have mistaken myself. When I found out we had to run a mile in under eight minutes, I was shocked because I am a slow runner. But then Kyoshi said to try your hardest and get under sixteen minutes and youll be fine. And thats what I did. If you are a 2110 candidate and you are reading this, I want you to know that this will be a hard time, but try your best, practice, and always be prepared. I would like to thank Kyoshi for helping me throughout my experience. THANK YOU!!!! I admire at least three people and they are Maya, Samantha, and Rachel. Maya has been very helpful and cheering me on during our training. Even though some times were tough, she would always be there for me. I admire Samantha and Rachel for their spinning kicks and all their other forms. They are really good friends, too. Another person I would like to thank is Kirsten for coaching me while we were doing our group runs. This was THE BEST experience of my life and I cant believe I made it this far with out quitting. Also, Mr.Ash taught me ever since I started at TKC and I want to thank him a lot, too. I would also like to thank my mom and dad for taking me to all my classes so I could learn more and more every time. Thank you to team Makoto! Thank God! And PEACE!!! Also Im so grateful that my family members, Gramma, Grappa, GG, Chasen, and one of my best friends Savannah, came to watch me tonight. THANK YOU GUYS!!!!!!

My Essays
While doing karate my whole life dream was to become a black belt just like Kyoshi. A black belt means everything to me and even though we have to get up early in the morning for the tests, I will still fulfill my dream to become this belt. Besides all the sweating and all the tiredness, I know I am going to pass this qualification test, because it has taken me five years at the most to get me up to this point. My teachers, and my master, have taught me everything I need to know up to this point. From my very first day at team karate centers, I didnt know anything at all. Then, after I learned everything, I got inspired to learn more and more and more. Then just last year in 2008, I I pired one of my best friends Savannah Hale to take it. I also taught her a couple of advanced things. Like I said before, a black belt means everything to me and I hope that I do good on both the qualification and black belt exam. Thats what a black belt means to me.
I think I deserve a black belt. I think I deserve this belt because I have been working my way up to this moment for about five years now. I have been going to almost every single class (except for when I was sick) and I am almost ready for the big day. This journey I had took me a long time to be a candidate. I also think I deserve a black belt because I have been working really hard these past years. I have also been working up a lot of sweat. Even if some of my friends decided to quit, I stayed because I wanted to fulfill my destiny of becoming a black belt. If people in my class or group or partner needed my help, I would help them. If I forgot how to do it, I would ask my teacher to review with me and then I would help him/her. Those are some reasons why I think I deserve a black belt.
My Letters of Recommendations
To whom it may concern:,
I have known Madison Kaminsky for about five years now and during that time she has developed into quite a well-rounded young girl. Being her piano teacher I have watched her talent flourish into something that is very special. She is extremely gifted and a real natural at the instrument. Lastly, her discipline is very evident when she works and combined with a fun and likeable personality, Madison is well on her way for great things to come in the future.
Sincerely,
Efrem Bergman
Dear TKC: I am writing this letter to strongly recommend my daughter, Madison Kaminsky,as a candidate for Black Belt. She is so deserving on so many levels. First and foremost, she has dedicated the last four years of her life to learning andpracticing the craft. Even when times were tough and she felt like it was getting too hardfor her, she found the strength to work through her obstacles. Although she is constantlychallenged, she remains dedicated and focused on reaching her goal of becoming a blackbelt. The challenges presented by TKC and its instructors are not easy for anyone, letalone an eleven-year-old girl. Yet Madison continues to push herself with greatdetermination. I sometimes sit in awe of the beautiful, strong, independent young womanshe is becoming, and attribute much of her growth to the wonderful example set forth byTKC. In addition to her hard work and dedication, she deserves this challenge for manyother reasons. She has great character. She is warm, friendly, honest, good-natured, andalways looks for the best in people. She is trustworthy and responsible and exemplifieswhat it means to be a wonderful friend to her peers and a wonderful daughter to hermother and I. We couldnt be more proud of her. It is my belief that a black belt not only possess great skill of the techniques, butmore importantly that she embody so many of the great qualities that I have used todescribe my daughter. This may be one of the hardest challenges of her childhood and I feel that whenshe succeeds here, she will be able to succeed in anything life throws her way. Thank you,Matt Kaminsky
